In the version of EPM included in Merlin, the product overview mentions that EPM can highlight keywords in a C program and the /OS2/APPS directory even includes a file of keyword definitions for C and other supported language but there is ABSOLUTELY NO HELP to tell you who this facility is invoked. Can someone who knows please help? Please reply by email. Thanks. George Wiley School of Computer & Information Science University of South Australia Adelaide, Australia

Try to add a symbol to your toolbar with 'a_toggl_highlight', this will do the thing. Colour definitions are to be found in the epmkwds.* files. From the README.EPM included with the EPMBBS package (available
for anonymous FTP from Hobbes.nmsu.edu (in /os2/editors),
ftp.leo.org, et al.):
EPM Keyword Highlighting support
Keyword files are included for C, E, HTML, IPF, Java, Perl, Rexx, RC files,
TeX, LaTeX, and Script.
To turn on keyword highlighting for a C file, enter the command:
toggle_parse 1 epmkwds.c
For the other file types, substitute epmkwds.e, epmkwds.cmd, epmkwds.rc,
epmkwds.tex or epmkwds.scr, as appropriate. In addition, there is
a KwdHilit entry on the toolbar buffet which you can drag to the copy of
your toolbar in the buffet dialog to make it easier to toggle keyword
highlighting on and off.
You can edit the epmkwds files to add and delete strings and to change
the highlighting. The distributed files were created for people using
black on white text colors, and may look strange with a different
scheme. EPMWKDS.C contains the current documentation.
If you like this, and want it turned on automatically, you can add to
your MYCNF.E any of the following, and then recompile the macros.
const
C_KEYWORD_HIGHLIGHTING = 1
E_KEYWORD_HIGHLIGHTING = 1
REXX_KEYWORD_HIGHLIGHTING = 1
RC_KEYWORD_HIGHLIGHTING = 1
SCRIPT_KEYWORD_HIGHLIGHTING = 1
As the comments in EPMKWDS.C indicate, the file is huge because the
entire OS/2 2.1 toolkit is included. Removing parts you don't need
highlighted will speed up performance.
------------------------ end extract ------------------------------
Note that you'll need to get the EPMBBS package if you want to
recompile the macros. Note also that not all the keyword files
mentioned above ship with Warp 4; they *are* all included with
the EPMBBS package. (The missing ones are the ones which were
written by those outside IBM.)

Not quite. The EPMBBS package includes keyword highlighting files for C, E, HTML, IPF, Java, Perl, Rexx, RC files, TeX, LaTeX, and Script. Only a subset of these is shipped with Merlin. Austin elected to not ship those developed by non-IBMers. -- Larry Margolis, margoli@ibm.net
