For those of you with NE2000 cards, there is a pseudo fix for the problem.
You should put the following line as the FIRST line in your config.sys:
BASEDEV=RESERVE.SYS /IO:300,32
(where 300 is the address that your card is set to).  I believe that the OS/2
Command Reference has details on this driver.

This is not guaranteed to solve all of your hang problems, but it should help.
For me, I am now able to install and do a selective install without taking out
my card.  Be sure to change the config.sys on disk 1 of your installation disks
and to copy the driver from your \os2\boot directory.

This method comes from the latest APAR list from IBM.  It is available from
software.watson.ibm.com in /pub/os2/os2fixes/30apr1.zip and probably from
hobbes.
