VX-REXX/REXX dialog trouble in OS/2 w/ FP17

I recently "upgraded" to Fixpack 17, and since then (and with FP16 as well, as far as I remember) I have had trouble with aborted messages in message dialogs, specifically with the VRMessage() dialogs. I backed out the REXX*.DLL files, but the trouble still persists. Does anyone know how to fix this? No. I ran into the same thing. A search on Compuserve found a thread discussing this problem, so it appears that everyone has it. One user said he backed of the new SOM.DLL and it went away, but who knows what else that would affect. The response from IBM was something like "If you have this problem be sure to submit a problem report so we can prioritize it." Total BS in my opinion-- how many broken applications and out-of-work developers is the acceptable level before they fix things? I plan to back off fixpack 17 as soon as I finish backing up my disks.

"Downgrading" to the original OS/2 (red spine) version did the job for me...
