Full-screen command-line errors crash system!

G'day!

    I'm running OS/2 Warp 4 FP40 with an Jaton 58p (ET-6000) video card
and have the problem that whenever I am in a full-screen command-line
session (either DOS or OS/2), the system will crash if I reply F or A
to an Abort/Retry/Ignore/Fail error. As an example, say I type "dir
a:" and don't have a floppy disk in the drive, I need to use either F
or A to end the operation - however, my machine then crashes!

I suspect this may possibly be caused my my video card drivers, as I
don't think this happenned when I was using an older Cirrus Logic
card. I have the latest ET-6000 drivers from both Jaton and Tseng
Labs, but these are in fact the same software.

Any ideas on what the problem could be? Any help is GREATLY
appreciated! Reply via e-mail is preferrable - thanks!

B

I find this alleged combination extremely unlikely.... unless you are
running several years in advance of IBM Austin (but then again who
isn't?)<g>......So assuming a typo (you didn't "soak test" your keyboard in
that revolting "dunny" tasting Oz lager did you?<vbg>) could you clarify
whether it's OS2V4 + FP4 or OS2V3 + FP40 just for the sake of accuracy and
the remote(but unlikely) possibility it might have some relevance regarding
your problem<g>.

The implication being that a seamless windowed session doesn't give you
this problem?

And if you attempt to close the session rather than respond to the prompts
it refuses to close?- right?

I suspect you could possibly be right....

Numerous - but you could try backing up SVGADATA.PMI and regenning it if
you havn't already. Alternatively or additionally if that fails return to
VGA,retest the "failure" and then regen via a SVGA re-install.That might
indicate whether you're looking at a video or some corrupt FS/IFS/PMSHELL
related problem.

In your config.sys, try setting autofail to yes. It's set to
no by default. This is my config.sys entry...

REM IF AUTOFAIL=NO (DEFAULT), TERRIBLE DIALOG BOX POPS UP FOR DRIVES.
AUTOFAIL=YES
