Did you load 4.0 over the Merlin Beta that was available for sale from
IBM Denmark or over a real 3.0? I found that the best results are to
format over the accumulated sludge of multiple upgrades of older
versions, and installing over the Merlin Beta is prohibited in the
installation instructions. It took me about 8 hours from a formatted
partition to restore it to the way I liked it, but it has been very
stable since, and the installation went through with only one click of
an OK button before it checked my monitor.
