I have found that most people (yes, I've have done this), put in the new card
and presto, the computer looks at you with sorrowful glass eyes. Well, before
you change to configuration, add the new card, booting on the old one, and
reconfigure to the new one. Shut down, move the drive to the new card and restart.
This usually works and is better than pulling your hair out. It will also tell you
if your drivers work.

Good luck
