Thanks in advance for any help given. I upgraded my system from a 486 66MHz SLC/2 to a 166MMX. I am using a ProAudio Spectrum 16 running under OS/2 Warp 4 with FixPak 5 applied. I read that many users have experience a lost of sound after FP5, but I didn't have any such problems. I suspect that ProAudio Spectrum can't run at this speed. Before I change sound cards -- by the way, I REALLY like my PAS sound card: it never me any problems and ALWAYS works perfectly, until now --- I would liked to to get some advice from other OS/2-PAS users. I do believe this is a hardware problem: when I dual-boot to DOS/Windows, the same happens. Any advice or suggestions: Updated driver? Parameter settings? Changing clock/bus speed? Thanks, -Kevin

I had a similar problem when I upgraded to me 233 MMX motherboard. In the BIOS, there is a setting for reserved IRQ's. My sound card was NOT a PNP board, and I needed to tell the BIOS to reserve the IRQ and DMA address. BINGO! Sound galore! Hope this helps. I'm having this same problem with a Soundblaster AWE32 PnP. It worked perfectly with my old Biostar MB and Cyrix 5x86 120 MHZ processor, but refuses to work in my new MTec R534 E MB and Cyrix 6x86 P200+ system, using the same (latest) drivers, no mater which settings I try. I've tried PnP enabled, and PnP disabled, with IRQ 5,7, and 9, and with numerous other changable parameters set at every possible optional setting (/p, etc...).... The most frustrating thing is that my son runs Win95 on the same P200+ system (via boot manager), and Win95 detected the soundcard, and had it playing great sounds, in a mater of seconds. Therefore, I know the MB is not the problem. --------------------------------------------- Man's mind is his basic tool of survival! lsayre@en.com.NOSPAM (Lawrence Sayre) *remove '.NOSPAM' for correct E-Mail address* ---------------------------------------------
