I finally managed to get my 4 gig drive installed and a fresh
install of Warp. However, I'm still having some problems that I'm not
entirely certain how to fix.
First, when I used FDisk to format the new harddrive, it would not
allow me to designate my D: (maintenance) partition as bootable, so I
wasn't able to add it to my Boot Manager menu. I did this with the old
HD, but don't remember how. Here's the breakdown: Bootmanager
(startable), C: (500MB, primary, installable), D: (100MB, logical), E:
(1300+, logical), F: (1300+, logical). How do I make the D: drive
bootable and add it to Boot Manager?
After doing a fresh install of Warp, I installed Java 1.1.4,
followed by Fixpack 6. After FP6, I began receiving an error message
on reboot saying that config.sys wasn't loading c:/os2/mdos/vcom.sys
and would ignore the line. I unpacked the file from my FP6 archive,
but I still received the same message. I've installed SIO, the updated
DOSBOX files (vdostcp.sys, etc.), updated the MPTS files and updated
the TCPIP stack and one of those could be the culprit as well. How do
I safely fix the vcom.sys error message?
I did a fresh install of Netscape (and chose the 1.1.4 Java), and
now on launching I get an error message that it can't find the
bookmark.htm file on the C: drive, which makes sense since I installed
it on the E: drive. I used an ini editor to change the info in the
Netscape.ini file, but after a reboot it was still looking for the
file on C:. How do I fix this?
Also, prior to installing my new harddrive, I was forced to install
Netscape for Win3.1 (I needed access to a website that the OS/2
version wasn't sending some kind of information to--a Java problem, I
think). Anyway, Netscape 4.04 under Win/OS worked fine on the old
drive, but now launching the program just tells me that there is no
DNS entry for all of my URL's which indicates to me that for some
reason Win/Netscape no longer realizes that there is an open internet
connection. How do I get internet support under Windows active again?
thanks for your help,
Kevin
