If you put 10, 20, 50, 60, and 70ns memory in a machine and SET THE BIOS TIMING to 70ns, it will all work. However, ALL the memory will be running with a cycle time of 70ns, so you will get ZERO benefit from the faster RAM. Take the same system and set it to 10ns and the fastest memory will work, but you will crash when you hit the slow stuff. Sometimes you can get away with 60ns timing in a system with 70ns parts, but it's a risk. : published by IBM. Here, on p. 175 the author's explain that a Trap 0002 : error can be due to mismatched SIMMs that operated at different speeds. If you *clock* all the SIMMs at the speed of the slowest SIMM, you should have no trouble. It's when you set the BIOS to a faster speed than any single SIMM can handle.
