ASUS SC-200 (NCR 53C810) + OS/2 Warp Success - Anyone?

I'm having a heckuva time getting an ASUS SC-200 to work with OS/2
Warp.

I"ve got it attached to a DAT drive, everything (the only 2 things on
the SCSI bus - the controller and the drive) is terminated properly,
and I've set up the CMOS to set INTA to IRQ 11. (I do have a PCI/IDE
controller on INTD at IRQ 14 - not sure if that makes a difference).

Upon bootup, the machine recognizes the board, the tape drive, and the
NCR bios.

When OS/2 initializes, the OS2CAM.ADD driver is recognized, as is the
tape drive and IRQ 11.

So all seems to be ok, right? But when I try to access the drive, the
system locks up - hard, requiring a hard boot.

The other weird thing is that RMVIEW does not "see" IRQ 11.

I am totally confused. Any ideas?

TIA,

Mike

Try IRQ 9 if it is open. Keep the jumper on INTA on the SC-200. You didn't
mention your motherboard but on the plato you change the IRQ for the board
in the bios. Not sure about plug and play. I once heard that pci/ide would
interfer with the sc-200, but that was with a harddisk. I don't have a
pci/ide drive so I can't confirm this. I using my memory now :-), I think
you have to have a secondary controller for the scsi, but this is with a
harddisk don't really know about tape drives.

I have never had a problem with the sc-200 + plato motherboard using OS/2,
but I have no ide devices.

You need to post which dat drive, what motherboard, and other additional
information. That may help out.

Hope this helps,

Helen

Thanx for the reply, Helen.

Motherboard: Lexar LXM-510.

It's an ISA/PCI/VLB board that allows pretty decent control of INT/IRQ
settings right in the CMOS w/o fiddling with jumpers. I spoke to the
motherboard maker about this prob, and he didnt seem to think that the
PCI/IDE controller would represent a problem. Just to confirm, I
pulled the IDE controller out of the system and booted from floppies
.. and got the same symptom.

DAT drive: Archive Python Turbo DAT 4542NP

Other info: I can get everything to work just fine with an Adaptec
AHA-1515 (low end, sits on the ISA bus, configured for IRQ 11). RMVIEW
also shows IRQ 11 in use.

Stumped,

Mike
