OS/2 install from faulty floppy drive

I have another question about os/2 install. Using the red version and
installing by disk.
The problem that I have is that my computer has a faulty floppy drive. Let
me explain -
when I put in a disk and do a 'dir' in DOS or Windows, I get what is on
the disk. When I put in another disk and do a 'dir', I get the same list
of files from the first disk. For some reason the information does not get
cleared out of something. In an old PCWorld, I found a solution to this by
adding

DRIVPARM= /D:0/F:7

to my config.sys for DOS

When installing os/2 from disk, Disk 1 has its own config.sys, so this
line does not take effect and the drive can't read Disk 2. The same thing
used to happen to me when I tried to install windows. My question: What
can I do about this? Will drivparm or something similar work in the os/2
config.sys? Please Help?!
