Presumably optimizations will happen, >they certainly did for Win drivers. I was just a tad bit more excited about the new Tseng drivers when I installed the CSD. (Don't worry, folks, I had an extra partition in which I installed another copy of GA and then the CSD on top of it.) Finally, a video mode which is usable with 256 colors and (IMO) nearly as fast as the 640x480x16 original (at 800x600x256, that is...1024x768x256 was rather doggish). And the best part? No more kludging around with PM .GIF viewers...at last I can have Wingif running in a 256 color seamless session!!! Oh, Klondike and Wing Commander in a window look a lot better now, too :-) Yes, I am excited, and yes, I can't wait until IBM releases the 'real' thing. A curiosity, though. No extended resolution 16 color drivers were to be found. Could they be even faster if there were? Hmmm.... Also, I had to insert disks 8-18 every time I wanted to change the video mode...surely there's a better way. (Like the way Windows remembers old video modes and re-reads them from the hard drive instead of floppies.)
