I haven't got this configuration to work, but I haven't tried very hard.

Have you asked SimWare whether Sim3278 TCP/IP provides 7171 transparent
mode emulation? I know I've used it with the dialup version.

Depending on the ASCII host, your users would do _much_ better to use
a tn3270 there rather than sim3278. An excellent tn3270 is available
from:

<LI><a href="ftp://dxcoms.cern.ch/pub/3270">Mike Gerard's CERN 3270</a>

When built correctly, this provides 7171 transparent mode emulation.

Not so. If a protocol converter provides 7171 transparent mode emulation
(apparently yours doesn't) Kermit exploits it very successfully.
I've done this with dialup Sim3278, but not with Sim3278 TCP/IP.
