I would suggest that before starting to create some new protocol that may or
may not have anything to do with EDI as anyone else knows it that you
consult some of the existing info sources.

Here are two URLs that would be of relevance if you want to look into the
possibility of building some new EDI standard.  (Does it not make sense to
see what other Internet-related standards there might be out there?)
