I'm looking for information on any existing or proposed FLOW CONTROL techniques (algorithms, protocols) for use with network traffic that is BROADCAST ROUTED in a packet switched network. Please don't misunderstand, I'm NOT asking for information wrt networks such as a packet radio network where the radios have broadcast antennas and the packets are sent to a single destination. Rather, my particular application is a proposed new network in which the nodes are interconnected via landlines but most of the messages are destined for all nodes in the network. Any references to articles, existing networks, etc. that deal with this issue would be appreciated. Thanx, -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alan L. To: hal@slovax.wa.com Subject: packet networks Hal, I tried to mail this to you, but couldn't get through to your address (hal@slovax.wa.com). Since this user group is so lightly loaded, I'll just post my response to you: Thank you very much for responding to my posting re flow control for broadcast networks. In my particular application, however, _everything_ is sent broadcast and the link capacities are not great enough to allow duplicate packets, one for each destination. Thanks again, Alan -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Al Polivka arpa: apolivka@x102a.harris-atd.com Mail Stop 102-4858 usenet: uunet!x102a!apolivka Harris Corporation phone: 407-729-2983 Government Aerospace Systems Div.
