Simple example source of snmp agent?

We have a TCP/IP network of Silicon Graphics, Sun, and Motorola hosts.
I am looking for a the source to a simple snmp agent that would let
me interogate the hosts that support snmp (at least the SGIs that I
am aware of).
I just want something that will retrieve a small portion of the MIB
of a remote host.
I am new to this area so I may not be phrasing the question correctly.
If you can send an example or direct me to one I would appreciate it.
I have checked the archives an cannot find anything that is appears
to be a small example.
thanks

The bsd4.4 data structures, under radix.h, among other places have changed from bsd4.3-net2.
Does any one know of an updated version, that I could get the source to?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have been using the 'Tricklet' snmp library and programs with good
success. It has a couple of very simple and small-ish commands in it
to poke at various parts of the MIB, and it puts out output quite suitable
for automatic parsing and handling by say 'perl' scripts.

I got it from a site in the Netherlands - if you do an archie search
for 'Tricklet' it should turn up. It's from the same group that puts
out 'Gobbler', 'Beholder' et al.

FYI: I tried replying and got
550 toppin@melpar... Host unknown

Motorola NSE has a "non-supported" archive on the end of the tape. It
includes snmp and slip. I did get assistance (quick answers and reasonable
people) for slip. I use the snmp to look at Annex3 servers and plan to
write some code for management. They provide a few simple programs.

There is also The Commercial Networking Extensions Packages for which I have
a photocopy of the Package Description. Tried to get cost but have not
followed through with Salesman.

NSE is Motorola's Network Services Extension (BSD style BTW)
CNEP also has BSD network printing.
