How much memory do you have?
Haw many processes are running?

Adding an extra process (ZA) could have started your programs swapping out
to hard disk.
Is there more hard disk activity ? Especially when switcing windows?

If so
1) Cut down on number of processes running at the same time
2) Get a freeware memory utility from Tucows
3) Buy some more memory (though you may be at the stage of considering 
a new motherboard/CPU/mem combo)
