In article <42d3e7$aks@mujibur.inmind.com>, mfinney@inmind.com writes > Yes. Tabs are simply unacceptable even without the use of > indentation for control structure. The real problem is that good support for tabs is not rife in editors. Bad things found: That useless customarie 8-column tab-stopping: Why is this aspect of the KSR33 yet with thus?? Fixd relation between blanks and tabs. The editors that I know of assume that with a givven tabstop-setting it is safe to equate blanks and tabs. If sumone has indented a line with HT,SP,SP,HT such an editor feels free to make it HT,HT when its feature for indenting- duplicating is uzed. Assuming that the terminal has tabstops eight columns apart. In my code I indent with nothing but HT (I write neither Fortran nor COBOL). If it is C, when printed it with tab-stops at least three columns apart it looks all right. If it is Bourne-shell code, well, it needs at least six columns.
