The C standard treats all white space pretty much the same, with the possible exception of white space at the end of a physical source line (since some systems force fixed-length records by blank-padding). Other than that, any discussion probably belongs elsewhere. However: In article <42gpun$d1l@mujibur.inmind.com> <mfinney@inmind.com> wrote: >All of the editors I have seen allow tabs to be [customized and] used >or not. ... Getting people to USE these features can be problem, but >that is different from not having the features available. Actually, the problem is more that people *do* use the features, which means that source layout is not portable. (If someone codes under proportially-spaced font, even non-tabbed layout may change from one system to the end.) (Fortunately, C does not require portable source layout.) -- In-Real-Life: Chris Torek, Berkeley Software Design Inc Berkeley, CA Domain: torek@bsdi.com +1 510 549 1145 `... if we wish to count lines of code, we should not regard them as ``lines produced'' but as ``lines spent.''
