I have been using a BJC600e for 18 months with few problems on A5000s (a 4Mb
one, which also had a replacement pcb during the period, and an 8Mb one).

Very recently I have suffered from the foam filling in the tanks shrinking
back from nozzles, easily cured by pushing in a straightened paper clip to
lever back out. This I attribute to less use than previously.

Working in technical support for schools has brought me into contact with
many BJCs playing up. Not one case is attributable to the type of computer
being used. Most failures are, IMHO, due to running with dry tanks, fluff
and dust (or foreign objects such as staples and paper clips) jamming things
up, not switching off at printer first (causing logic to do a self
examination of system on next power up, this self test gets progressively
longer each time power is removed while switched on before it can sort
itself out) and infrequent use allowing foam to shrink and ink to dry.

It is this foam problem which could be described as a design flaw. As is
the fact that the printer will still try to perform without adequate ink
flowing through the heated nozzles and thus keep them below 'self-destruct
temperatures'.

Using third party cartridges or refill inks are another likely factor and
certainly finish any chance of a warranty claim.

Follow up set to c.s.a.hardware
