I have an Amstrad PC1640 (286 board?) with monitor.
The Company gave it to me a few years ago because the HD had packed up.
When I got it home I gave it a good bash and it worked again ;-) But
working from the DOS command line? Yack. Too much hard work after the
Acorn Wimp.
As I am chronically strapped for free HD space, I wonder whether I
could strip out the HD (20 or 30 MB) and use it in an external box
with my 420/1 (Watford IDE interface). An ex-colleague at work told me
that the fan in the 420/1 was marginal and it would be unwise to fit
it next to my Maxtor HD (incorrectly formatted at 504 MB - LFAU 2K).
