I saw this, and stripped out the Acorn-related news/email readers,
thinking the results could be quite interesting. The above is quoted
so as to put the statistics in perspective. I've also included TIN
and DIS, to give some idea of relative scale.
Entry Count Reader
1 68239 TIN
12 2477 Demon Internet Simple News
25 330 Archimedes TTFN
98 18 ANT RISCOS Marcel
127 11 !EasyMail for the Archimedes
150 8 RISC OS TTFN
165 7 RiscOS TTFN
207 6 RiscOS' MailList Robot automatic scheduler
214 4 Offlite-Internet
217 4 InterTalk
233 3 RiscPC TTFN
234 3 Risc PC TTFN
247 3 Archiboard
290 2 Acorn Archimedes TTFN
329 1 ReaderS for the Acorn Archimedes
375 1 Archimedes ReadNews
Total 382 readers found.
So TTFN is far and away the most popular Acorn news reader used to
date. It'll be interesting to see how the figures change as all
the new Internet software becomes widely available. It will also
be interesting to see how usage of Acorn machines on the 'net might
increase as a proportion of total usage.
BTW, accumulating all the TTFN counts pushes it up to entry 23.
The figures are possibly a little misleading, depending upon when
the 4-day period is counted. And the lower counts are small enough
to be susceptible to relatively large fluctuations.
