My BBS machine is 8 years old, up and running 24h a day. And I still have an
'87 A1000, thogh that's for nostalgia, not for work :)
I don't think AGA is anything like a standard, but it's not the fault of the
programmer if a program requires things ECS just can't do. People have to face
it, for some things these old machines are outdated and without a major
upgrade new software will not work. You can multitask fine on a 512K 68000
machine, but if you want do to image processing there's no way around a more
powerful computer. Saying you shouldn't have to upgrade is like saying you
shouldn't need any training to run a Marathon. Well, you may try. But you will
fail because your body doesn't meet the requirements.
