In article <75o6b9$lp5@falcon.le.ac.uk>, mws2@le.ac.uk.nospam says... > >>2 - owners of Z II P-IVs certainly do not run 68000 >>processor, since a 68000 is not able to run >>Picasso 96 or Cybergraphix. They thus have a >>real 32bit adressing-capable processor. > >If you are using an A1200 with the ZorroII busboard and no expansion card >for the trapdoor, you are still using a 68EC020 - a 24-bit addressing >processor. > I think it is pretty safe to say two things: 1. The number of people that have this configuration is few and few between. If you've upgraded to a tower + Z-II board config, I would bet that 98%+ of those users have upgraded the CPU board. 2. The number of other users of the Z-II PIVs far outnumber the number of people with this setup. I think that this extra modification during production (the 3dfx fix) is a small chip with serious advantages both in sales and customer satisfaction. It is a small hack, and DKB has already proven that it works (MegaChip). -DP darkpaw@amy.mv.com
