I want to thank everyone who joined me in tonight's IRC session. It was great
to see some new faces and old friends. I especially want to thank Mr. Harv
Laser, longtime Amiga alumni, for peeking in and saying hello.

I plan on having yet another Scala IRC session. Same Scala time, same Scala
channel. Next week, March 28th, at 5 pm EST (2200 GMT) till 7 pm EST
(0000 GMT).

Join us if you have questions about the Amiga products, PC products or
any other legal distractions. :)

Regards,

John Chang

Scala Crashes Now with Cybervision 64

I just got my CV64 and set it all up. Needed to do some presentations
for work, so I loaded up Scala and Crash, crash, crash. I am not happy. I
have MM300 and an A4000. I am stuck using it on my 1200. Any ideas?

Any product for the A4000 like the comp out on A1200?

I have to move all my scala scripts after I create them to my a1200,
so that I can dump them to video through the composite out. Is there any way
to do this on the 4000? I don't want to spend mega bucks here, just make my
life simpler. Any ideas?

Sorry John. None of our Scala MultiMedia products support any of the
available RTG/EGS cards, including the CV64.

You can use Scala with your Amiga 4000, you'll just have to disable the drivers
from hooking into the Amiga OS and do all work from the Amiga's 23-pin video
port.

Umm, Digifex has an RGB to Composite/S-Video decoder for less than $200 USD.

I regret that I don't have any contact information, but I'm sure your
favorite Amiga vendor may have it.

Also, you may find a used SuperGen genlock in the comp.sys.amiga.marketplace
newsgroup at a bargain price. It is much, much better solution than any
decoder. Plus Scala has an EX for the SuperGen.

Does that mean that it is not worth upgrading to mm400? I was
thinking about it so that it would work.

Any plans to add support for cybergfx?

Could you please elaborate more on how to use it on my A4000?

There are a number of features in MM400 that is worth the $49 USD ugrade
price. Visit our Website at http://www.scala.com for more information
on MM400.

>Any plans to add support for cybergfx?

Not in the existing Scala Amiga products. The low-level design of our
existing software code is highly optimized and therefore, too
inflexible to incorporate RTG/EGS boards.

What would be ideal, is to port our new BackBone(tm) software technology,
which is a platform independent, binary independent, modular and scalable
environment, back to the Amiga. The question is, which Amiga platform?
ECS/AGA or Power Amiga?

I don't have a clear answer for you. There are still some things that
Amiga Technology and Scala have to work out.

>Could you please elaborate more on how to use it on my A4000?

What is there to elaborate on? Simply disable the Cybergrafx drivers
and use the standard 23-pin video port for output. Again our software
products only supports the ECS/AGA chipset. In other words, use
our product as if the Cybergrafx board was not installed.

If your final output is video, then you'll need a RGB to Composite
Encoder or a Genlock.

Scala MM doesn't support CV screenmodes, but it does not crash on my system.
(A4000/040 CV 4Mb)
I just run it on a TV that's hooked up to my Amiga output :) You can of course
use a Multiscan monitor which syncs to 15 khz but that is something which I
lack... (Just sold it to be exact)

If you use a monitor which syncs to 15 kHz as your main monitor, you do not
have a problem.

You can also use a scandoubler, e.g. DblScan 4000, to get your non-multisync
monitor view 15kHz screenmodes.
