I used to have a problem whereby I couldn't post mail or news, or send Web
requests, but I could receive mail and news with no problem.

Before I go into how I fixed it (because I still don't know why it was
happening, for sure), try running "netstat status" and let me know how
many retransmit timeouts it reports after you've tried to use the net
for a while.  Maybe you don't have the same problem.
