AWeb lockup problem

To anyone that might know,
I was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing
lockups with AWeb v1.0??? After a short time using it on my
machine (config shown in signature), it totally locks up
everything. I get *no* GURU, no system error window ...
nothing. Even the mouse quits moving! When I warm start the
system, everything boots up fine. It does not revert to the
software failure, or any other, GURU before booting.
Any ideas anyone??? Email reply preferred. Thanks in
advance.

You might check if you have Magic Menu running, turn it off. This is Magic Menu's fault, not AWeb's because of the way Magic Menu is implemented. Easiest solution is to turn it off, or set the timeout function in the Magic Menu preferences to a low value like 3-5 seconds, after which Magic Menu will release the system when a lock up occurs. . Yeah, I too have been having lockups with Aweb 1.0. Seems like when chip
memory starts filling up, it has a hard time clearing things. I notice this
especially when trying to flush images.

I'm not running Magic Menu, but thanks for the offer of help. Anyone else
have any ideas??? For other things running in the background, I have:
CPUBlit
MultiCX
ScreenMenu
Screen Wizard
Virus Checker 8.04
Might be a couple more, but I can't remember the stuff that I still
have in my startup-sequence and user-startup. Oh, yea, I have Executive
v1.3 running, too.

Yes, I've been getting the occasional lockup recently too. No idea what's
causing it, and as you say, there is no indication of the cause of the
problem.
Don't keep it in email, I'd like to hear what anyone has to say about it

I've had a different problem, as I suspect a hardware difficulty
in this A3000.
At times, but mostly whan loading html files, the browser
just reboots the machine. No lockup, no error messages,
just an instant reboot.
I've been running the A3000 with the lid off and did find
(so far) a bent pin on one of the chip ram ICs (fixed that)
and the Agnus IC clicked when pushed on with both thumbs,
(maybe it was not properly socketed) and
I am running a small fan blowing on the chip ram ICs
(just in case).
Too many people run AWeb without problems. Although I did
download the AWeb 1.1 archive from Aminet today, so
there must have been something which needed fixing .

Well, I ran 1.0 quite quite fine on my A3000, but it sure had little quirks (enforcing some styles for certain font types and minor visual disharmonies with Urouhack, broken 68000 support (didn't affect me ;)) etc.) which seem to be now fixed in 1.1. -- Heikki Kantola, Amiga advocate, computer linguistics student at University of Helsinki, author of HK Fonts vol.1-7, PC loather, idler extraordinaire, IRC addict (Hezu@#Amiga), Mac basher, Unix/X fan and what else? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> E-Mail: Heikki.Kantola@Helsinki.FI <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Oh, yea, I have Executive > v1.3 running, too. Now Executive can be a pain in the ass if set up improperly. I have only gotten it to work with regular crashes and have decided to abandon it until a new version comes out. Of course I could have made a setup mistake, but nevertheless. The first thing to do if you experience frequent problems with a new program is to find out whether the program itself or something else causes trouble. I have not been able to test AWeb 1.1 yet, cause I've been so busy with work. But, over the weekend I'm going to try to download, install and try it out. If it still happens (the lock-up), I'm going to start removing automatically loaded programs from my system one by one and see if the problem clears up. Nope, work perfectly here. I even have AWeb on a screen that ScreenWizard
opened.

This one crashes my system when run... not using it anymore.
