AWeb has gopher support.

When it makes sense to build them in, build them in. When it makes
more sense to use some other application, designed for that task, use
the other application. For example, I am quite happy using Voodoo for
mail (I should be, since I wrote it, after all). I wouldn't be happy
to use programs that wanted to do mail outside Voodoo, since I want it
all in one place, and have Voodoo saving copies of sent messages. So,
mail support in other programs would be bloat to me. Quite similarly,
I have good tools for FTP and news (although for news the tool isn't
on the Amiga), and I don't want to change them. Support for these in
other programs would be useless waste of memory and development time.

Both Voodoo and Aweb are GREAT programs, but they DEFINITELY need fine
tuning in the interface department.
I am currently suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome(CTS), and I'm sure
that I'm not the only one! WHY IN THE HELL IS IT SO HARD TO MAKE A
PROGRAM SO THAT IT IS *****BOTH***** MOUSE *AND* KEYBOARD FRIENDLY!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for voodoo, why not not use the left and right cursor keys for moving
up and down the message list?
As for Aweb, why not use the left and right cursor keys to go back and
forward from web pages?
BETTER YET... MAKE THEM USER DEFINEABLE!!!!! And PLEASE, don't suggest
that they use MUI, as it slows down MY enitre sytem.. Maybe MUI works
fine on some systems, but on mine, it slows the entire sytem down.
Anyhow, I a glad that I don't have to use an IBM. I've been using my
dad's IBM more often recently, and it's AGONIZING to use with CTS.
Just trying to keep the mouse inside the slidebars is MURDER, let
alone being without Powersnap, and requesters not remembering shit,
and in order to rename a file with 'file manager', ya need to type
the whole damn thing in again even with a 1 or 2 letter change... It's
almost a GOOD thing that the clones have an 8 character filename limit.:)

Because the left and right cursor keys mean horizontal scrolling if a
picture or preformatted text is wider than the window.
Making the keys user-definable is a good idea, and already on the AWeb
to-do list.

Why? Unless it had to know about SMTP itself, which would restrict its
usefulness (and require that you configure a mail server for it), it
would have to use an external program for delivering the mail
_anyway_. Why not use a real mail client, then? Whatever the way used,
AWeb needs to have at least one configuration option for it, and the
current methods leaves the least code into AWeb, and is the most
flexible. This obviously makes it the most desirable method to me.

Hmh. I don't 'rape' anything, including FTP sites.. While I agree that
supporting both links to files AND likns to directories without
internal support is hairy, I like the idea of using FTP-Mount for FTP
links (I'd like it more if I could manage to make FTP-Mount work with
I-Net 225). What's more, it is faster, since FTP is a protocol that's
very unsuitable for a Web browser's way of working.
>For news, I use Tin with no problems. What machine/program are you

TIN blows chunks, IMO. I use Gnus on the nearest GNU Emacs 19.30
available, which happens to be an IRIX machine at the university.

I use Voodoo with with a combination of mouse and keyboard, because
that's the fastest way I can use any program as long as those are the
two interfaces available. It doesn't seem to be hard to use, but that
may be because I designed it so that it would be fast to use for me.
>As for voodoo, why not not use the left and right cursor keys for moving

Because you may have to scroll messages left and right. Pictures do
not word wrap.

True, it would be much nicer to have it all in one that 500 different programs. At least for the basics, another of one Netscapes success probably. The sensible is build in, and you can plugin the more extreme.

I disagree- I'd _MUCH_ rather use one client to browse the web, another
to read news, yet another to read mail, etc. I liked Netscrape so much
better when it was just a browser, and when it took up "only" two megs of
disk space (The newest version uses over four).
In addition to the savings in memory (and consequently execution speed),
with separate clients, each client can focus on what it's good at, and a
user can pick and choose which he wants to run. Maybe I don't like the
built-in newsreader that came with web browser X. What are my options then?
