     Hi Guys,

I will be posting general hints for OASIS2 and ICE into the news groups
and probably building it upto into a full blown FAQ. Sore here is the first
one.

Phil Hough asked about a strange problem on his Mega STe.

>I seem to have rather a large problem.. with Ice (rather than Oasis2
>the program). On loading ICE.PRG from the desktop, not through
>Oasis2, and without connection, the program loads and displays the
>menu bar acrros the top, and stops (as it probably should). Thr mouse
>cursor can be moved as normal, but is unable to access the menu bar,
>the menu bar simly does not react.
>
>The same occurs when connecting through Oasis2, the ICE program goes
>through its connection phase, and then connects, and starts to get the
>news. however it stops there, as the mouse can still move as usual,
>but again the menu bars are unaccesable.
>
>And so in both cases the program appears to freeze, the olny way to
>stop the program is to reset.
>

The cure for this is to run the ICE_NET configure program select go to
the General Details dialog. At the botom of the dialog is a popup for the On
Screen Clock, turn it to OFF. You will still get the clock in the top
corner of the screen, but it won't use the interupt driven system that seem
sto cause STe and Mega STe machines some problems.
