I seem to have had a similar problem with Demon, whether using a pc or
my TT030. It would get to the logon sequence and hang 90% of the time.
When it decided to logon, all was well but most of the time it
wouldn't, though I don't use pop3 email so i can't speak about
antmail.

Looking through a trumpet winsock script I found a place to add an
extra carriage return before the logon sequence and this solved the pc
problem. When I eventually found a way of adding a carriage return to
the STiK script, that also solved the problem and both machines, all
other things being equal, now log on automatically first time with no
fuss or bother.

I added the following sequence to my dial.scr for demon:

FIND =
RESP = /

just before the 'FIND = logon:' bit but after the phone has
connected... presumably '/' is a carriage return in STiK? I can't
remember which STiK script i found it in but originally there was a
'WAIT = ' command before the above which may be useful with some
service providers.

What i don't understand is why no-one else on Demon appears to need
the same technique...

Has anybody else had the same problem and used this solution?

I have also noticed that, even when the above works, Demon seems to
hang quite often. If I hear the line ring once then I tend to be able
to logon ok, but if i don't hear it ring before the modem picks it up
or it rings two or more times then everythng seems to stall...

jason.
