1+ gbyte disk problem

Hi,
Does anybody know if there are problems in using a 1.2gigabyte disk
on a DECstation 2100 running Ultrix 4.0? We have such a system and it
crashes quite frequently, generally requiring an fsck to be able to boot it
back up again. We have tried setting it up as a 1gigabyte disk, using only
1 gigabyte of it's useful space, but that doesn't appear to work. The manual
refers to problems arising out of not using DEC cables to connect the scsi
together (which is what we are doing). But due to the connection on the
Fujitsu disk, we have to use the cable we were supplied with. This newsgroup
has had some discussion on using third party disks with no apparent problems.
Can anybody offer any information on what we may be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance . . .
