We are persuing this issue for future releases of VMS and Unix-based operating systems and adapters for such. In the sort term, a Translating Ethernet to Token Ring Bridge would be your only path to a host system. The Ethernet packets need to be mapped to 802.2 SNAP packets on the Token Ring and 3 multicast addresses need to be mapped into Functional Addresses. This can be done with Proteon p4100+ and CNX Bridging Routers in R12.0 The only thing stopping the PATHWORKS PCs is a check for If Token Ring, then print a "not supported" message. A clever PC hacker can no-op that out of LAT.EXE, it will work. (using PW for DOS V4.1A ... the "A" is important") Dave Mitton Digital Equipment Corp Networks and Communications Token Ring Program
