PDS5000/33 DS5000/133
CPU R3000 @33MHz R3000 @33MHz NOTE 1*
Memory 40MB maximum 128MB maximum
TURBOchannel 2 slots @12.5MHZ 3 slots @12.5MHz
Baseboard XVGA Equivalent None
graphics 1024 x 768
Internal 1 Removable media 1 Removable media
Storage 1 3.5" Hard Drive 2 3.5" Hard Drives NOTE 2*
System I/O SCSI, Ethernet, ISDN, SCSI, Ethernet, Two
Audio, Serial.bus, One Synch/Asynch ports, NOTE 3*
Synch/Asynch port, FDI Keyboard/mouse port
Footprint 17" x 16" x 3.75" 17" x 21" x 4"
NOTE 1* The SPECmark ratings are the same. The CPU daughter cards are, in fact,
interchangable. And, the System module of the PDS5000/xx is a respin of
the system module of the DS5000/1xx series.
NOTE 2* I remember something being done about supporting a second hard drive
in the PDS5000/xx system box, but I don't remember the resolution of
it.
NOTE 3* Serial.bus is simply ACCESS.bus hardware without the complete software
support (ie. only the DEC options will run, so far). The FDI (Floppy
Disk Interface) is spawned off of the same I/O CTL as the other base
system I/O. The ISDN hardware is not yet software supported. Check with
your local DEC reps on the timeframe for that release.
So, basically, you get more configurability out of the DS5000/1xx series
systems. But, if you don't need the extra internal storage, extra memory, or
the capability of using the Hi 3D graphics cards internally; the PDS5000/xx
makes a great machine.
I hope that helps.
Thanx,
AJ
