The only problem we're The 16 port ds700 which can be had discount for maybe $2400 will do it but is a tad pricey for your need and has 15 more ports you don't want. DEC has a recent 1 or 2 port terminal server designed for using with printers but it can be used just as a small terminal server. I have NO IDEA how fast it goes, but since feeding LASERs is a popular topic, just maybe they did it right and support 115.2kb - ask. --- Whoops forget it. The LNXXD is a whimp at 38.4 max - I just looked up its announcemnet on DECUSERVE. Has MMJ (yuk) connectors, so modem control would be inadequate - if any at all. The DS700 with 115.2, LAT and TCP/IP and even SLIP and RJ45 jacks loaded with enough modem lead control is great - including out of band flow control. Too bad they didn't make a 2 port version of it for this little box for printers.
