I confess that I have been demented enough to run SLIP over LAT, using
a VMS/MultiNet system as the gateway. It works, though I wouldn't want
to run X over it!

Our configuration has never included Mac SLIP clients, so I can't
vouch for that. We have used VMS/MultiNet systems as clients (works
great, supports VJ compression) and a SunOS system (lousy performance.)
In fact, we have even run this topology:

		    public phone line
[vax]-[v.32 modem]---------------------[modem]-[data PBX]-[DECserver]
								| enet
					     (the Internet)---[vax]

and it worked well enough to satisfy a whole convention of electrical
engineers! (To be sure, not the world's most demanding audience...)

If this appeals to you, drop me a line and I'll send you the gory details.
