HELP !!!! Font Downloading with DECserver 90L+ on UWS

I've got a DEC 5000 attached to an HP laserjet III through a DECserver 90L+.
I'm trying to download a font file (binary).  Everytime I do, the file
is not downloaded properly.  Is there a way to do this with a 90L+
installed.  Is the DECserve stripping characters ?  Do I use lp or
lpr to print the files?  How about cat ?  HELP !!!!!!!!
