DECWINDOWS on VAX/VMS 5.4 and upwards is X11R4 compliant

VMS DECWindows is not a full X11 distribution. i.e. you can't build your own
servers, etc. There's no Athena widget set. But we do have the complete Xlib
and Xtoolkit. DECWindows is now based on OSF/MOTIF altough the old DEC XUI
widgetset is stil included.

DECWindows supports 3 types of transport: TCP/IP, DECnet, LAT There's no
problem using other OS's X-servers as long as they speak your language, that
means X and one of the transports above.

Not that I now of except for the usual things of porting normal "C" programs to
the VMS platform (file system stuf etc.) X-wise there's no difference. There
are people who ported the Athena widget set to VAX/VMS. I ported many programs
published in comp.sources.x to VAX/VMS. (example: XV)
