VMS DECwindows started out as an X11R3 implementation. The latest
VMS DECwindows Motif is an X11R4 implementation. Obviously, we're working
on R5.

The entire Xtoolkit an Xlib are included along with language bindings
for C, fortran, Pascal, Ada, Basic, Macro and BLISS (and probably
others that I forgot)

the transport is the key. DECnet is the default transport, but we also
support the TCP/IP transport. Depending on what's on the other end of
the wire, you can use either

Not really. Some of your C include statements will be different and file
specifications different, but that's about it. Much of the stuff that
we do at DEC is common source between Ultrix and VMS
