I have a SUN Sparcstation ELC and would like to use it
along with the tons of VAXen we have locally. The VAXEN are running
VMS. There are a couple of problems that I need to work around that
I'm sure someone out there has already dealt with:
1. Missing fonts for remote X-clients. If I e.g. run a DECTERM
from either a VAX or a DECstation, then there are messages
from the client that it is unable to locate fonts (e.g. the
menu font families). Does anybody have a set of font alias
files and instructions about what to do with them to
make these messages go away?
2. Once I'm logged in to the VAXen, I'd like to use e.g.
the language sensitive editor (LSE)... or for that matter any
of the other editors. Does anybody have a mechanism to get
the SUN keypad to look like a VT-100 keypad... yet not throw
away arrow keys e.g. shift to get keypad functions, and unshifted
to get arrow functions?
My environment is:
Sparcstation ELC, type-4 keyboard, Open look version 2.
Since I'm a bit behind on newsgroups, could you please mail me?
If there is interest, I will summarize to the net.
Thanks,
Ron
