Shaheen,

  The problem is that the addressing scheme in Ultrix v4.1 only supports a
drive size of about 1GB formatted (the RZ57 is a 1.2GB disk that formats down
to a 1.0GB). The addressing scheme went to the 10byte scheme in Ultrix v4.2 and
works just fine.

  I have included a cut from the ultrix-faq on gatekeeper that would have
tipped you off.

==============================================
16. Why doesn't ULTRIX 4.1 work with disks bigger than 1.2GBytes?

There is a bug in the V4.1 SCSI driver that will only allow it to read
something like (2 ** 21) or (2 ** 20) LBNs.  After that it wraps
around to the beginning of the disk. It is fixed in V4.2.

I hope that helps you understand it.

				Thanx,
				  AJ
