X11R5 & DECnet

Hello everyone,

I recently installed X11R5 on my DEC 5000/25 running 4.2A. My machine
is on a DECnet with a 3100 also running 4.2A and Motif 1.1.3. The
3100 is all DEC, with no MIT unsupported subsets installed; my 5000/25
has *no* DEC X subsets installed, in favor of generic X. The problem
is a "Can't open display" error on both sides. I believe the hosts
are correctly listed in the X0.hosts file on each machine, and I added
the following line to the xdm-config file to disable the MIT MAGIC
COOKIE authorization scheme:

DisplayManager._0.authorize: false

Nevertheless, the error persists. Have I forgotten something or made
an error, or is there a fundamental compatibility problem that cannot
be solved? I should add that *no* security is needed on the DECnet in
question; my partner and I have su privilege on each other's machine.
He would like to take advantage of R5's improved X clients while I
just prefer R5 over DECwindows. Given projects under way, upgrading
to 4.3 is not possible. Does anyone have any ideas abut solving this
display problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
George McClintock
