These are perfectly normal Amiga resolutions. 640x512 is PAL hires laced or doublescan, and 320x256 is PAL lores. 368x283 is PAL lores overscan. Overscan is commonly used in video applications, and what it does is extend the screen resolution (and image) to the edge of the screen (and beyond), without changing the size of the pixels. >I think it's about time I coded up a small PC .GIF/.LBM viewer for >these pictures... Hires overscan goes to 768x566 in PAL, or x486 in NTSC. Pictures of this resolution, or one of the other overscan sizes (752 for D2, 720 for D1) are common for video capture images and animations. You also might need some sort of converter for images with greater than 256 colors, which is pretty common for demos & artwork. Obviously, there are resolutions that far exceed a standard VGA display. But you should be able to handle many of them by using a higher resolution mode; SVGA 800x600 24 bit should cover any of the video-compatible image modes. -- *-__________________________ | *Starfire* | _________________________-* Jeff Jones email:jeffsj@execpc.com *//* Amiga Lives! |Born *TFG* *Starfire* Design Studio *\\//* 1985-1994, |again 1995! --
