  I've already tried loading the driver low to no avail,
and mem gives the same amount of free memory whether I
boot from floppy or HD. I've even tried another driver
and still get the same problem.
  I'm using DOS 6.2.
  Somehow the CD-Drive fails to be identified by the
driver when booted from the HD. It might be some obscure
silly little BIOS bug, though I've already tried another 
version, more likely it's a software bug within the CD-Drive 
itself.
   Anyway, it works well when I load the same 
boot files from the floppy, so it's not a
h/ware problem per se - a little inconvenience, not
worth more bother.
