Have a look at the simms first they some times have marking to denote
the type i.e. if the numbering finishes in a 7 or 70 then it is most
likely a 70ns simm if 8 then 80ns and so on.
On the parity front you sould really try to stick to the same variety
as I have yet to get parity and non parity to work well with each
other. On the other hand I have got simms of different speeds to get
along as long as they were paired in the same speeds eg 2 70ns and 2
80ns on the same motherboard, but I couldn't swear that 70ns and 60ns
will work together as I have never tried it!
Its pretty simple to work out what size of simms they are 30pin, 72pin
etc so I won't insult your intelligence with that.
Anything you try should not do any damage to you're PC so don't worry
about braking the thing if you put in the wrong simms just make sure
you deal with the static so you don't eitheir damage the simms or some
other major component!
Hope that helps
