Stores like Best Buy probably get several fraudulent returns a day.
But, some customers don't think the store should have any right to
protect against fraud. If the store didn't, we would be paying a lot
more for what we buy.

The store should refuse to take back your computer if the seal
on the case is broken, not that they're likely to look, or that you
can't whine to a manager and claim it came that way (if caught).

And, if I had my way, the stores would call the cops on *every*
apparent attempt at fraud. None of that "oops, my wife put the
old VCR in the box." Too bad this would be a public relations
nightmare (most people are not that bright enough to understand
why this would be a good thing for those who are honest).

Thank you for your several examples of why stores have a right to
refuse to take items back if there is something wrong. No receipt, no
return, and they shouldn't be sorry. And, if they make
an exception, it should be after you help narrow down the time
and register you bought the item at so that they can check their
computer and see if you really did make that cash purchase.

Seriously, if you have a problem with a store employee, don't give
the teen a hard time, just politely ask to speak to the manager.

Yeah, I don't have a lot of respect for some salesman feeding me
a line of rubbish to get me to buy a computer with extended warranty.
But, the kids at the return counter get crap all day long and they're
not the ones feeding your garbage to make you buy something.
