That's part of the reason why I have a webpage on my computer, so
that I can keep track of all the rebates I've received, and which are
outstanding. Also, it is on display for others to see.

Um. So what if most people don't send them in? Not my loss. When I send mine in, I almost always get a prompt rebate. Some try to cheat you, but most of them work. Of course, you have to send it in to get the rebate. But I think most people realize that. ;-) Mark In ba.market.computers Wizard <davicomp.uh.spam@nh.ultranet.com> wrote: : Wrong, most of them are a scam. If most people opt not to request rebates on applicable items that they buy, that's the consumers' free choice. A rebate would be a scam if those people who did request it never got it.

Most don't get them when requested but that wasn't my point. My point is they offer prices that are below the average competative price for a given item and then to get that advertised price (the fine print) you must mail in the rebate coupon. I personally won't buy an item advertised like that unless the actual, cash it takes to buy price, is competative. The whole concept sucks in my estimation. It is a scam to allow them to false advertise and get away with it. Stan Horwitz wrote: > > Wizard (davicomp.uh.spam@nh.ultranet.com) wrote: > : Wrong, most of them are a scam. (I agree about the stupid advertiser tricks, though.) For fun, demand the low price one day or say you'll sue them for false advertising. Make a big fuss. Fake a heart attack. Have fun with it. :-) Mark <...> :> Wizard (davicomp.uh.spam@nh.ultranet.com) wrote: :> : Wrong, most of them are a scam. I got several notices from Belkin saying I didn't send them this or that to qualify for their rebate , which I *had*, and finally I got extremely annoyed and mailed them a nasty but business-like and assertive letter detailing exactly why I would never ever buy a Belkin product again, and cc'd it to my state Consumer Protection Division. The rebate appeared in my mailbox in a week. But I still won't buy their stuff again, rebate or not. Aggravation loses customers.
