A reasonable argument. I've only called Adaptec a few times, and while
I've got help from them, the hold times were lengthy.

We have ZERO problems with Adaptecs (mostly 2842 and 2940, but also
1542, 1640 and 1740) in terms of compatability, on 20+ systems raning
from 386s to P120s. The drivers are very solid on the OSs we use (NT,
BSDI and Win95). And with PCI, IRQs become a non-issue anyway...

How much do the DPTs cost? The OEM version of the 2940 (ie no EZ-SCSI,
which you don't need anyway as long as you don't use DOS) is now around
US$170 at various distributors; you should be able to find it by mail
order for not much more than that.
