I use primarlliy WD drives when building machines and have had very good
luck. We had a bad string of 850MB drives but that's long past... plus
their support was quick to replace them under warranty (well, not very
quick in shipping, but quick to say "send it back for a new drive").

Your much better off getting the WD1.6 vs the 1.2 because the 1.6Gb drive
has a faster transfer rate. Unscientific testing has revealed to me that
the 1.2's are good for about 2.5MB/s transfer where the 1.6GB are good for
close to 3.5MB/s transfer. (This was done with SI's disk speed
benchmark--thus the use of unscientific). I'm pretty sure that the speed
of the motor on the 1.6GB is faster. Also the seek times are less. For
the difference in price your getting a lot more than .4GB!

Sorry, don't have a clue about that one. Is there a good mail order
house or warehouse nearby? How about a local mom-n-pop place that's been
around for a while?
