Hi,
  Can anyone tell me what 8310 -- hard disk error is ?

   A friends computer upon startup displays the following:

	8310 -- hard disk error

	ROM BIOS (C) Copyright Hewlett-Packard 1985-1989
	VERSION B.0.2.03.  ES/12
	Invalid configuration information - Run setup program
	Strike F1 to continue


Striking F1 does nothing.  I can boot from drive A: and drive C: seems not to exist.
They do not have any setup program to run.

The HD is a  Hewlett-Packard 42Mb, drive type 37.

My friend brought the system from a dealer -- 2nd hand, who now dos not exist
and receieved no documentation.

The HD is pretty warm to touch.  I tried fdisk & msd and other tools but nothing
seems to see the HD, is it dead ?

Any thoughts welcomed.
