Hey, please tell us where you live, it can make a difference.

This is what i've found so far in my never-ending :) quest for the
cheapest ZIP disks (and if anybody knows more/better places, please
Email me):

Around where i live (San Francisco Bay Area), Good Guys sold me a
10-pack of formatted PC ZIP disks for $139 plus tax, totals ~$151.
In addition, at that time, IOMG was offering a $10 rebate for every
six disks purchased. And when they sent me my rebate check they
also sent me some other new rebate deal. Sometimes GG also has
"in-ad coupons" giving you additional $$$ (about 5%) off your purchase.
I've not been to my local COMPUSA or Fry's recently, but i expect
their prices would be as cheap or cheaper since they want to be
competitive, but they can be such a hassle sometimes.

You might also try PC-MAC connection at 1-800-800-1111, very friendly
and helpful (one of the best mail-order firms i've dealt with).
For me, they are a plus cuz no sales tax, but their ten-pack costs
$149 (not the cheapest), but they have a standard $5 overnight shipping.
If you are looking to get a Connectix COLOR Quick Cam too, i think
PC-MAC Connection has some sort of IomegaZIP/ConnectixQuickCAM
package deals which might be worth looking into.

CDW mail order 1-800-515-4239/1-800-337-4239 has FUJI-brand ZIP disks.
Buy 5 and get one free (manufacturer mail-in offer w/ $2 S&H fee,
expires Sept 30). A 5-pack costs $79, so with the free, it's 6 for
$81, net cost $13.50 each plus CDW shipping costs and mail-in hassle.
CDW also offers $2.99 UPS ground shipping for any order <= $200
Iomega-brand ZIP disk 10-packs are $149. Free IOMG disk caddies too.
Never purchased anything from them, so cant vouch firsthand, but they
are traded on the Nasdaq (or so their catalog sez)

And there is always the Internet Shopping Network http://www.isn.com
10-pack of PC-formatted ZIP disks URL:
http://www.isn.com/cgi-bin/getNode?node=110404&product_id=10222
for $139.99 and $5 FedEx 2-day. They are in California so i cant save
with them due to sales tax. Good service, email replies.
I had ordered a new AT&T Paradyne 28.8 cellular PCMCIA modem, but it
was backordered for 3 months, and then finally came but was sent
to the wrong address (because by then i had moved 2 floors upstairs),
so they resent it via fedex overnight per my request, but without
additional charge to me (this was around last Xmas).

Oh, and i cant forget NECXdirect 1-800-808-3375 has 10-packs for
$139.95, $4.95 shipping, located in Boston i believe (no tax for
CA residents). I've used them, they are good, and they reply to
Email, plus they have a fine WWW site. The URL for the 10-pack is:

     http://necxdirect.necx.com:8002/cgi-bin/auth/
     ifilelnk_q?key=0000075017&nonce=ZTJwmL_O

That should be all one line, mushed & run together, but i separated
it cuz it's over 80 columns wide.

Both ISN and NECX will tell you, right on their web page, if an item is
in-stock. This is real handy particularly for these types of products.
It ticks me off when i see a good price, but i have to call and/or
email to find out that they dont have any in stock and dont know when
they are getting another shipment. What's the point?

There are also a few WWW sites in California that sell 10-packs
for $121 and $129, but i dont buy from them cuz of sales tax (and
postage) AND they are often out-of-stock OR they dont reply to my
Email inquiries promptly enough (leading me to believe they arent
very reliable). So i compromise and go by my local Good Guys store
(which is open late) and pay them instead of saving the $5-10. If
you are outside CA, it might be worth it to you cuz you dont have to
pay sales tax. If want to know those super-cheap CA WWW sites, reply
back to me, and i'll look up their exact URLs.

take care,
--Sam
